Fall is here, the leaves are changing colors, the weather is getting colder, and the days are getting dark and shorter. Along with the seasons you may find yourself changing how you present a home to a potential client. Tip: One way to make sure the house looks as magnificent as possible is to have the correct lighting.
With the sun setting at an earlier time you might find that you are showing your house to clients in the dark more often than not. It might not seem like it, but the right lighting can change the perspective of an entire room.
According to light experts there are a few different types of lighting you can use to enhance a room: general lighting, which gives an overall lighting of the area to help brighten up the whole room; accent lighting, which highlights and draws attention to details; task lighting, which lights the room in a way that helps perform a certain task; ambient light, gives off the appearance of a light glow throughout the whole room; and aesthetic light, which can be a work of art in its own. Playing with these different types of lighting can change the way we perceive a room and help make it look more appealing.
For example, if a room seems to be too small you can make it appear to open up by washing out one of the walls with light. If you find yourself in a room with a ceiling that seems too tall you can use low luminary lights that won’t let any light out of the top, which will reduce the visual height in the ceilings. With a room that seems too wide focus light on the narrow ends of the room and vica verses if you have a room that appears too narrow.
These tips will help a home stand out especially in the evening and at night since there isn’t as much sunlight to take advantage of. One thing you can be sure of is that a dark home is never appealing to clients and can turn potential buyers away, so make sure your lights are on and helping the home stand out as much as possible.
