Kimberly Blanton of the Boston Globe is reporting that the Longwood Towers Condominium project in Brookline has been seized by its Mortgagee. See article. If not familiar, Longwood Towers is the tudor style three tower complex on Longwood Aveneue adjacent to the Longwood medical area. it’s a large complex with 277 units that we’re originally apartments. I have always loved the architecture of these buildings and thought it would be a great condo converson given it’s prime location and appeal. Unfortunately the project didn’t get under way until the very height of the market and by the time listings made it to market it was already in a decline with the project unfinished. The mortgagee says they plan to finish the project and I hope they do.

I recently was looking at a home for myself when I asked the broker, “who owns the fence” that separated the properties. The broker replied it was the neighbor’s fence because the good side of the fence was facing the property I was looking at. I asked why that mattered and she said, Read more

Dark lines on ceiling
April 4, 2008
I was showing a home a few weeks ago when the buyers noticed the second floor ceilings had some faint to dark lines on them. It appeared to me that they we’re the same distance as the rafters should be above and my thought was that the nails or screws used could have bled throught the drywall. Other than that I had no advice on what it could be. Read more
